    I teach Health Science I and II (Pre-Med and Academy), and Medical Skills and Services….

    I attended Fairland High School in Proctorville, Ohio… and recently celebrated my 25th High School Reunion…whoohoo!

    I started out at Marshall University(We are Marshall…the thundering herd…) were I obtained most of my pre- req, majoring in Psychology and…..decided to move to sunny south Florida to attend Palm Beach Community College for my Nursing degree instead.  Much warmer here….brrrrr

    Registered Nurse

    Anything out doors, reading, swimming, mission trips, singing…

    Same Kind of Different as me…excellent book…battles racism, homelessness and faith.   Of course, Glass Houses rates a close second.

    I love teaching the magnet classes, because I love the medical field.  And it helps me sleep at night knowing I helped teach some of our future doctors which potentially could be managing my care when I am residing in the nursing home….in Hawaii…

    I am very lucky that I get to teach freshman in our magnet program.  This gives me the opportunity to forge 4-year relationships with our school’s best and brightest students.  The teacher-student relationships that I have with many of our magnet graduates have become friendships as our kids move onto college and beyond.  There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our students become successful young men and women.

    The best thing about teaching in the magnet is getting through to those students who really want to pursue TV/Film as a career.  To see them work hard for four years and then take it one step further once they go on to college.  Many of them will begin their careers after college graduation.  It’s then when we know it was all worthwhile.  We’ve always gotten feedback from them telling us their high school magnet courses prepared them for their college courses.  This is the long term thrill.  The short term memories always happen on our New York trips.

    Gardens Magnet Programs are my passion.  I love teaching, planning events, attending field trips, supporting my students by watching them play their sport or perform in the band, chores or drama club.  I am always happy to start my day at Palm Beach Gardens High School. One of my favorite activities is observing my students teach at local elementary school while partnered with Junior Achievement.

    I love teaching in the pre-med magnet so I can encourage and enrich students who have a passion for the field of medicine.  Preparing them for college anatomy and physiology is my primary goal while offering a fun and hands-on approach throughout the year.

    Best thing about teaching in the magnet here is transforming those “Brains of Mush into Thinking like a Doctor” and actually getting to the point where we can have a medically based conversation about a condition or a patient with a student and they not only understand what we are talking about, but provide their own insight! Love when those light bulbs go off!!!!

    Best magnet memories: Mock Disasters we have known and loved, Trauma Hawk lifting off the football field with one of my First Responders on board during the mock prom crash scenario, Law and Medical Ethics classes “trying” cases and watching a student who has a love of medicine shine in the clinical area. Makes me so proud…..
