Palm Beach Gardens High School was extremely proud to have 2 of the 4 2009-2010 District Officers installed at the Rally.  Julien Borbon, Global Business Senior,  was initiated as District President and another Global Business Senior, Michael McLean, was initiated as District Parliamentarian.

The guest speaker this year was Lester Woerner, President of Woerner Holdings, LLC.  He explained how making certain decisions greatly affect your future.  The breakout sessions varied from financial planning to protecting your identity on the internet.  The lunch provided is always delicious too.

The most exciting event that happened was Palm Beach Gardens High School won the Battle of the Chapters by answering questions about FBLA-PBL thanks to the hard work of Julien Borbon and Samantha Short.  We now have a huge trophy displayed in Mrs. Kummerlen’s room.  Way to go Julien and Sami!!   Thank you to everyone who attended and we look forward to another great year in FBLA.

4th Annual Student Tourism Conference

September 29th, 2009

4th Annual Student Tourism ConferenceOn September 29, 2009, the sophomores, juniors, and seniors of the Tourism and Hospitality Magnet attended the 4th Annual Student Tourism Conference, an event spearheaded by Mr. David Semandeni of the Palm Beach County Hotel and Lodging Association, at the PGA National Resort & Spa. With speakers from the Jupiter Beach Club Resort, The Breakers Hotel, and the Florida Culinary Institute as well as many others, students embraced the careers and opportunities within the hospitality industry, both professional and educational. Students also were able to speak one-on-one with those industry leaders in order to gain a better understanding of what steps they should be taking in order to begin their own career in Palm Beach County’s largest industry. The breakout sessions were another instrumental piece of this conference. Within these, students gained invaluable knowledge of how to build their resumes, use proper mannerisms in an interview, and learn about the many aspects within the industry. After eating a scrumptious lunch, we also had our “Waiters Races,” which Palm Beach Gardens was once again victorious! Our day was concluded with a tour of the expansive and newly-renovated property of PGA National. Once again, the conference served its purpose in educating the students of tourism and sparking their passion for the industry.
