Keys to Successful Application
- Be sure that you are within a desired school’s transportation zone. While your student may be accepted if you are outside of the zone, the zone will not be expanded to accommodate your student. If you are unfamiliar with the transportation zones, please consult the Choice booklet or the Transportation Zones Web Page.
- Submit the application on time to the district office. Late applications will not be included in the initial lottery; many programs fill up on the initial lottery.
- Know the admissions criteria for a program. Applying for a program for which a student will not qualify wastes one of your three choices. If the first choice program is the one for which your student is ineligible, the student may not have an opportunity to participate in the lottery. Admissions criteria are published in the Choice booklet, which is available at The Choice Booklet Web Page. If you are unsure if your student meets a program’s admissions criteria, please contact the student’s guidance counselor for a summary of current courses and GPA.
- Know that the application, once submitted, cannot be changed.
- If you have questions, please ask! Contact the magnet office at 561-694-7388
